XNPIG2024

• Since its first demonstration in 1960s by Bonse and Hart, grating based X-ray phase contrast imaging has attracted many research interests due to its superior performance than the traditional absorption X-ray imaging in improving the image contrast of low-density (or low atomic number) objects. In addition, the grating based phase imaging method has also been demonstrated for neutron imaging. By far, X-ray and neutron grating phase imaging have been applied widely in many research areas such as biomedical imaging, material science, and so on. It is believed that the grating based X-ray and neutron phase imaging would continue to play important roles in future.

• The International Conference on X-ray and Neutron Phase Imaging with Gratings (XNPIG) was initiated by the University of Tokyo in 2012. Over the past eleven years, XNPIG has been held successively for five times at the University of Tokyo in Japan, TUM in Germany, National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States, PSI in Switzerland, and Tohoku University in Japan, and has gained the worldwide recognition. Each time, a collection of specific topics are presented, providing an important opportunity for the scientists and students working in this field to share their latest findings and progresses to the entire academic community and the industrial community as well.

• The 6th XNPIG conference will be hosted by Shanghai Advanced Research Institute and Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and will be held in April, 2024 at Shenzhen city, China. The main academic topics will cover the latest progresses, for example, methods and instrumentation for phase imaging, signal retrieval and reconstruction algorithms, biomedical and material science applications. More than 150 people are exprected to attend the conference. The XNPIG 2024 conference will provide great opportunities for international colleagues to work together.

• Hope everyone will enjoy the 6th XNPIG conference, and enjoy the journey in Shenzhen and China.
